RMCO's Officers and Staff
The Rocky Mountain Climate Organization’s officers and staff include Stephen Saunders, RMCO’s founder and president. At RMCO, Stephen has been the lead author of the organization’s 25 reports, testified before Congress, and been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and USA Today, among other news publications and outlets.
Stephen founded RMCO after an earlier career in government and politics, which included serving in the Clinton Administration as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior over the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He also served as the national policy director in a presidential campaign, as executive director of a Democratic Caucus office in the U.S. House of Representatives, as associate counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and as manager of statewide and congressional political campaigns in Colorado. Stephen has a law degree from the University of Denver.
